Decorating Styles

When you decide that you’re ready to decorate or redecorate a room, one of the most challenging choices that you will face is the type of style that appeals to you and that suits your home. After all, it’s hard enough to decide what you’re going to wear for the day let alone what you’ll have to see for the next few years every time you enter your home.
To ensure that you are indeed seeing all of the possible styles for your room or your home, have a look at the information in this article that can help you decide your decorating styles and how to achieve them within your home with colors, furniture, lighting, arrangements, accessories, and other decor details.
FIRST UP—MOROCCAN STYLE
The Moroccan decorating style happens to be very elegant and exotic and it also is one that helps to add a touch of mystery to the feel and look of an interior. There are many vibrant color options available and the same is the case in so far as type of wood goes. The end result will be that the Moroccan decorating style will give your interiors a touch of luxury and it will make your home look more modern as well.

Morocco is a country that has, thanks to its strategic location between Africa and Europe, been influenced by many different cultures. This means that Moroccan decorating style will also reflect this crosscurrent of cultures that combine the best of the east and west as well as that of north and south. France and Portugal and Spain provide their own styles that have been incorporated by Moroccans and this can be seen in their decorative styles.

There are other influences as well including those from Africa and Persia as well as a lot from Islamic countries that surround Morocco in the east and the south. The end result is that you will get to see styles that are Moroccan but which incorporate a lot of different styles from these neighboring countries.

Since Morocco is a very hot country, it is not surprising to note that the Moroccan decorating style use vibrancy of colors and gentleness of lighting to keep things cool inside their homes. Moroccans use very strong colors in their decorations and so typically you will see many shades of blue and green as well as gold and silver and there will also be plenty of rich oranges and reds as well. As for furniture, these are also very unique and typically Moroccan.

The furniture used in the Moroccan decorating style is simple and also very inviting and normally the sofa as well as tables tend to be low in height. For furnishing, Moroccans make use of elaborate wrought iron pieces and the furniture will also have plenty of mother of pearls which are used in inlay work.

In Moroccan decorating style, fabrics tend to be very lush and luxurious and in addition throw pillows are used in abundance and the same is the case with fabrics that are very luxurious.

Moroccans use lighting to create various shades. For example, they will use lamps to give off dim lights and candles also help to create a touch of romance in the interiors. As for floors, Moroccan decorating style demands that these be made from dark colored hardwood which will be covered with plush rugs from Persia.
BUT, I LIKE COUNTRY!
Looking for some fresh country decorating ideas? For many people, country decorating means natural wood walls and earth toned furnishings with stuffed animal heads on the walls. While this is one style of country decorating, there are truly many different ideas that work quite well. This is why you should consider using country decorating ideas with a personal flair.

There are several different styles available that can yield the country look you seek without falling into any stereotype. Here, we will look at some of them to allow you to see what style might be best for you.

The new traditional style decorating with a flair for country involves balance and elegance without becoming so stiff and formal that it makes you feel uncomfortable. Centered around eighteenth century furniture styles, there is a great deal of room for country decorating ideas that involve the use of genuine antiques in this style of decorating. However, if you don't currently own or have the budget for genuine antiques, there are a range of reproductions that can be purchased that are made today, but have the appearance of age and style that is being sought.

Because our culture has been so influenced by other cultures around the world, oriental rugs and vases and European items would fit right in with the new traditional style.

American rustic is a very popular style of country decorating. This style of country decorating ideas makes extensive use of natural wood in walls and floors as well as wooden furniture whenever possible. Accent items are normally antique hand implements that are not produced anymore. Use of cotton and wool in the fabrics of drapes and upholstery is in keeping with this style as is the inclusion of brass, copper, pewter, and tin creations that have been weathered and have taken on a patina of age.

European country is a style that lets you incorporate elements from the lands of his or her ancestors or just from a culture that inspires you. French or Italian elements can include many different items pertaining to the making of wine or the preparation of fine foods. English elements can include flowered chintz, fine porcelain items and books scattered about next to the chairs and sofa for convenient reading.

There are other styles of decorating that make use of country decorating ideas in different manners. Some take modern styles and make them softer and more traditional by changing to softer colors. The key points that tie all these styles together is the use of a blend of "genuine antiques" where possible and reproductions where necessary. Unnecessary clutter is done away with in favor of a more simple, straightforward, and comfortable style.

What style of country decorating is your favorite and why? And if you love this style, tell us about some interesting or unique country decorating ideas you've incorporated to make your rooms special.
These are the two most popular decorating styles today.  We find that most decorating style overlap with one or more other styles.  Other popular styles are Tuscan and Mediterranean. We encourage you to surf the net and see what is out there on these and other decorating styles. We have several blogs on these styles as well so feel free to give them a look.  We know you will enjoy reading them.
